Mohamed Bahr was born in Alexandria, Egypt. His father was a passionate amateur photographer and part of Mohamed’s bedroom was used as the family's darkroom. Mohamed remembers helping his father develop black and white photos even before holding a camera in his hands, but his love of photography really took off when his father gave him a camera for his tenth birthday. From that age, he began recording the world around him and even set up a small photo studio during his time at University, so he could pursue his passion in parallel to his studies.
Mohamed has always been in love with all forms of visual art. He studied drawing, painting, contemporary art and filmmaking, but never lost a nostalgic passion for photography. In 2008, he decided to return to the world of still images by joining the Société Genevoise de Photographie (SGP) in Geneva, Switzerland. Through the activities of the association, he felt reborn as a photographer in this digital age, and has since been refining his skills as a street and portrait photographer. He particularly loves black and white images, reminiscent of his pre-digital childhood in Egypt, yet Mohamed has embraced the extraordinary power of modern digital cameras and image manipulation software, and uses the best tools available in the service of his art.
